Differentiating Content,
Delivery and Assessment
Spanish for 1G
Greeting and introductions
Here is the Common Core Standard:
World
Language Content Standards for California Public Schools Kindergarten through
Grade Twelve.
Stage I:
1.1 Students address discrete elements of daily life, including: a. Greetings
and introductions.
To begin
with, content is the “input” of teaching and learning. It’s what we teach or what we want student to
learn. Differentiating content can be
deliver in two ways. First, we can adapt
what we teach. Second, we can adapt or
modify how we give students access to what we want them to learn.
In this
lesson students will learn how to greet and do introductions in Spanish.
I will
start by using cds of native speakers.
They will listen to these cds and they will learn how to greet and do
the introductions. Then, we will
pronounce the words together. We will do role-plays to practice what we learned
in class.
I will
modify my lesson for the English learners because I give the instructions and I
explain everything in English. The
modification I will use is videos. They
will be able to see how the people act according to the greetings.
For the
special needs students I will try to work with a buddy system because there is
always students who get the concept easily and they can help these
students. Also, I will use the computers
with earphones because there are so many websites that can help my students to
get this concept.
The assignment
for this concept will be to practice with a role play. However, I can do a written test asking them
to match words from column A to column B which are the greetings in Spanish and
in English. Other way to assess this
concept is playing a game with the greetings.
