All about me

Hi everybody.  My name is Viviana Rodriguez.  I am from Colombia. I am married and I have two daughters Daniela who is sixteen years old and Denise who is ten years old. My native language is Spanish (in case somebody needs help just let me know).
My daughters
I am working as a Spanish Teacher in a private school.  I am teaching Spanish K-5 grade.  This is my dream job because I love my native language and now I have the opportunity to teach Spanish to these little ones.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Ashford University; and now I am pursuing a Master of Arts in Education (specialization in Best Practices), with a Single Subject (Spanish) Credential at National University.  I love to learn and I think this is one of the main reasons why I decide to be a teacher.  I love to pass the knowledge to others and I really enjoy teaching Spanish. For my future, I would love to teach first in high school; then, in a community college or university.

My hobbies are going to the movies, dancing (I love ZUMBA!!!!!!!!), cooking (Colombian food), watch soccer games, and playing (Wii) with my two daughters.  Unfortunately, here in the USA we do not have enough time to enjoy our hobbies because we are all the time really busy.  However, my two daughters are in soccer teams. Therefore, soccer is something that I really enjoy and I am doing almost every weekend.

I do not have a lot of experience with the differentiated instruction, but I always try to have classes with different strategies.  I like to play several games with my students because they have fun and learning at the same time.  I also love music and dancing.  I do ZUMBA with my students to show them the different music rhythms from some of the Spanish speaking countries.  Through the music and the folklore, I am teaching my students about different cultures.  Last month we were celebrating Hispanic Heritage month (Sept 15-Oct 15).  They had the opportunity to watch some videos about it; but also to learn how to dance "salsa" and merengue.    It is really fun and they really love it.  I try my best but I really want to learn more about differentiation.

Good luck everybody and I hope we have a great class!
